Welcome to Primos Elementary School!
At Primos Elementary School it is our mission to build a culture of understanding, provide a safe learning environment, and help our students become productive citizens. We encourage our students to work hard for their dreams, choose to wear a smile each day, and help others along the way.
Built in the 1950’s, Primos Elementary School has a long tradition of excellence. Although the school was closed in 1982 and the building used as a YMCA and public library for ten years, the Upper Darby School District rededicated the building and reopened Primos Elementary in 1992. It has been recognized as a leading academic institution since, serving approximately 400 children of Primos, Secane, and Clifton Heights.
Our programming is designed to stretch each student academically, while providing social supports, and nurturing the whole child. Primos is the Autistic Support site for the Upper Darby School District, with six classrooms serving 48 students. Our active Home and School Association provides family-centered activities in the fall, winter, and spring, including fall fun night, bingo night, and breakfast with Santa Claus. In addition, our Home and School has helped secure interactive white boards in our classrooms, keeping Primos on the cutting-edge of educational technology.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education has recognized the efforts of the Primos Elementary School staff, students, and community by awarding our school with four consecutive Keystone Awards as a result of making Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) since the inception of the No Child Left Behind law. Though we are proud of our achievements, we continue to set high goals for our future. At Primos Elementary School, we are committed to providing our students the highest quality education and demonstrating the joy of being a life-long learner.
